Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search widget passes to the outside company that supplies that tool. The provider processes the query and delivers its own result. We do not keep a separate site log of those search terms.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email sent to us may be retained long enough to respond and maintain the exchange. We keep that correspondence within the organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
Loading a page can create routine server and analytics data about the visit:
- Pages viewed and the time spent on them
- Device type and operating system
- The referring site, when one is reported
- Browser name and version
- Page-view timestamps
- The device's assigned IP address
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. They help measure page use, traffic patterns, and where a visit ends. Analytics vendors may combine those events into totals. A browser can reject or remove cookies, although some functions may then behave differently.
What We Do With This Data
- Route a submitted search to the selected partner
- Find and repair technical faults
- Measure which pages are useful and which need improvement
- Operate the site and maintain reliable loading
- Display advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Grayson County Criminal History does not build, keep, or sell a database of personal criminal records. The content identifies official routes to the sheriff, court clerks, Virginia State Police and its CCRE repository, VADOC, and the Virginia Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry. Visitor analytics are not compiled as records about third parties or as consumer reports. This site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Their privacy terms, retention periods, and sharing rules apply once a query is submitted to them. Those practices are beyond our control, so review the provider's policy before entering a search.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Grayson County offices, Virginia courts, state agencies, legal resources, or outside search services. The destination's privacy policy governs after you leave this site. Read those terms before providing personal data.
Advertising providers may use their systems to measure activity across sites and choose ads. We do not control that cross-site process.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal data. Some information may end up with:
- Analytics vendors measuring traffic and performance
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal order
- Advertising networks serving ads
- Search partners processing a query submitted through their tool
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable security practices protect the limited information under our control. No internet service can promise perfect security, so a breach or unauthorized access cannot be ruled out.
Users Under 18
This resource is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. A verified report that a minor supplied such data will be reviewed for deletion.
Your Data Rights
When its scope requirements apply, the Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act, Code §§ 59.1-575 through 59.1-584, provides qualifying consumers with rights over personal data. Those rights can include:
- Confirm and access qualifying personal data
- Ask for correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion when the law provides that right
- Opt out of certain covered processing
